Physical Education

Tardy and Behavior Policy:

In order to take attendance quickly, students must be sitting in their attendance line. The three-step detention procedure will be enforced for students who are tardy into the locker room and for not following classroom procedures.

Step One = Warning
Step Two = Phone Call Home
Step Three = Detention

Dress Policy:

Students are required to wear their PE shirt, shorts or sweat pants brought from home. Keep in mind that students may not wear the same shorts or pants that they wore to school. Gym shoes are also required. To help minimize the amount of students not dressing for class, the following policy will be enforced:

First Time Not Dressed = Loss of 20 Points for the Quarter
Second Time Not Dressed = A Phone Call Home
Third Time Not Dressed = Detention

Each time thereafter a detention will be given for not dressing for PE.

If an item is lost, communication with the teacher is expected. Also, we would ask the student to bring in any appropriate shirt and short/pants until the item is found or a new one purchased. Rentals will be available for $0.25 an item. All classes will be going will be going outside when the temperature is 45 degrees or higher. Students are expected to have appropriate clothes (sweats). Students will be required to take their uniforms home at the end of the week for washing.

Medical:

A parent note is good for three days of excused physical education. A doctor's not is needed for any extended period of time (more than three days). If a student has forgotten a note and is not feeling well, please have them communicate this to their teacher. This will result in allowing the student to sit out and to bring a note the next day. If the note is never brought to the teacher, the student will be penalized for not dressing. During a medical absence from physical education, the student is responsible for all assignments or information given out during class. During extended medical time, the teacher and student will work out some kind of written work to cover the points earned during class.

Students who have inhalers should bring them to class every day.

Grading Policy:

Each student's grade will result from class participation, written exams, homework, skill testing, endurance runs and fitness.
