Quick Facts

Transitioning into the New Crone

The new Crone facility, which will open for the 2003-2004 school year, will serve next year’s 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students in the Crone attendance area. The opening of this new school is part of a long range plan by the school district which includes the conversion of the existing Crone into a freshman center. The present Crone facility, which is currently undergoing expansion and renovation, will house the NVHS 9th graders beginning with the 2003-2004 school year.

The new Crone is designed like Still Middle School which opened in 1999, and Scullen M.S. which opened in 2001. Features of the new Crone include air conditioning, increased number of lockers, wider hallways, and common areas adjacent to the core subject teaching areas. Anticipated enrollment for the Fall of 2003 is approximately 1,100 students.

The address of the new Crone will be: 4020 111th Street, Naperville IL, 60564. The main phone number for the new Crone will be: (630) 428-5600. This number will not be operational until next summer. Phone numbers for other extensions will be announced at a later date.

The current Crone staff will be moving to the new Crone. Mr. Gorbatkin, who is currently one of Crone’s assistant principals, will assume the role of principal upon Mr. Sleep’s retirement at the end of the 2002-2003 school year.

The current Crone school colors, logo, and mascot will be transferred to the new Crone.

Our goal is to provide frequent and detailed information to keep you informed as we plan for these significant changes. As we continue to progress through this year, please check future editions of the “Panther Press” and the Crone Web Site (http://crone.ipsd.org) for additional information regarding these transitional issues.
